subterranean homesick blues
earlier, in the early 90's when i was 6 years old my father died because of until now i don't know why except in the death certificate it stated that edema as the cause of death. so left us, my sister who was at that time 8 years old, Linda my little sister 4 and the youngest among us which we called him as adik, almost 10 months old. Actually, i have 10 siblings where two now was already passed away. the age different is very vary because when i was 6 my three brothers already had finished their school and left home to pursue their dream, except for tam i think in the that time, she was only17 years old and live in the hostel at her secondary school. bravo to my mom, because without new ayah we still get to grow like any other children with a father in their family.
my house, my home at that time, was a woody house build by the FELDA developer designed as the same as any houses at any earlier FELDA settlement. a woody with asbestos roof, 4 standard size woody windows with one long window on the left side, three doors which one at the front and two the back, two bedrooms, one near the living room and one was at the kitchen where my mom and my late father used to sleep. near the kitchen area, there was a small shelve-cabinet like made from wood and attached to wall from the inside used to keep the kitchen items. my room was at the living room shared with others. if i'm not mistaken, there was a double-decker bed and mine was at the top. the wall of the room made from plywood and not fully covered to the beam. so, i can heard for almost of things came from the living room. the thing that i miss the most was, during that time almost for every night we will slept in the mosquito net. argh, syok gila.
the toilet was separated from the house, even the bathroom too also separated from the house and the toilet. so, if i need to go for business late in the night, i will wake my mom up for a company. the bathroom was made from several zinc combine together as the partition without roof. water was stored in the two big zinc barrels and bailer or we called it as "cebok" would be use to take a bath. well, the house was renovated for several number of times. at first, the "rumah batu" with two additional bedrooms, new kitchen area was build at the back of the house joined together to our current house at that time. so, no more separated bathroom with one extra living room. after so many years, the house now change totally into new comfortable house but the old one still hold memories i can never forget. ok stop. i need more time to reminiscence it back.
